Much like the Lincoln Memorial symbolizes President Lincoln’s belief in the freedom and dignity of all people, I will stand strong for all of the people of Polk County. The three pillars of my campaign are listed below. Each of these pillars rest on my foundation as a lifelong resident of Polk County and a Professional Engineer. While individuals and businesses alike have their own goals and aspirations, I want to make sure that all of us that call Polk County home can continue to share why we love this county with generations to come.

SMART GROWTH

Whether it is an existing business, a new business, a college, or a community, growth brings new opportunities to many residents. Growth within Polk County is good, but Smart Growth is great!

Smart Growth means county leaders, planners, emergency services, and developers work together to grow areas within the county that have the infrastructure to support the proposed growth. This allows for management of traffic, utilities, schools, and recreational amenities to benefit the residents that are both new and existing.

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT

Strategic development will allow more growth in areas to support existing communities. This strategy will also encourage development within areas of opportunity for infill instead of development in outlying rural areas.

Based on my 42 years in Polk County, our county is comprised of residents that desire many types of living accommodations, not just apartments and subdivisions. There must be consideration given to those that want a home on a piece of land to raise their family in a rural setting. Strategic develop will bring balance back to Polk County.

STRONG COMMUNITIES

By following the paths of Smart Growth and Strategic Development, Polk County can continue to build strong communities. While it might be a nice news splash to the the “#1 fastest growing county”, we simply cannot maintain that status; it is physically impossible.

To have this status for any length of time only puts more stress on the strained infrastructure, which does not aid in building a strong community. I will work diligently to keep Polk County the #1 county for its residents and business owners.
